Reviews

“Well this is witty and a great way of making religion more interesting!”

“I liked finding the scriptures at the end. When I looked the passages up, it helped to explain some of your imagery and symbolism that I didn't quite understand initially.”

"Lovely. Allegorical Bible commentaries (parables) and teachings are powerful. I like how the scripture references follow each thought to show the association and reveal truths in God's Word."

Sunday School Class - The Experiment

sunday school classesImagine this: a Sunday School teacher stands up and says to all the kids, "I wanna do something different this week!" And after sharing her idea, the kids are all game! To begin, they each quickly run back to their parents sitting in church and grab their hand. Mr. Pastor pretends to be surprised, but can't stop smiling. Without saying anything, the children lead the parents into their Sunday School class. And as soon as they all take a seat in their children's seat, their kids quickly run back into the main church, taking their parent's seats. Finally the Sunday School teacher greets every parent' curiosity, explaining the idea: a Sunday School class for adults!

The experiment is much more complex than the kids or the parents could realize. The teacher's (and pastor's) main objective is to re-condition the concrete philosophies (or stubbornness) currently competing with the older biblical reflexes and the environment inadvertently protecting those reflexes. But how does this happen? Consider that the reward for maturity seems to always be a more stoic, non-playful, non-reproachable environment. The problem with this is, as age merely presumes maturity, any attitude that got away undetected remains stuck in this more stoic adult environment absent of change, interaction, and maybe constructive criticism. This is true everywhere, but especially in a church! We need a Sunday School for adults!

Welcome to the reason behind Family Skits with New Christian Parables! Interaction beyond a simple head nod is necessary for ALL of us! It keeps us "humble" enough to change, face reproach, interact, and rebuke the adult stubbornness being protected in vain.

So let's have this experiment at home in your next reading with your family's favorite Sunday School teacher YOU!

God Bless You all.

This lesson inspired by The Teacher (from the Parable of The Smarter Copycat).
